Seattle Weekly / Collaboration
I recently worked on a song with Seattle's own Man Plus singer/producer extraordinaire Jared Mills on a song called "A Grand" that was just posted on The Seattle Weekly's blog. You can hear the song there and download it if you right click and save it. He had written the song originally; lyrics, synth bass line and drums and recorded all of those as well as the vocals and I filled in the blanks with lots of guitars (acoustic and electric) and some synth intros....

p.s. I cut all my hair off today and will soon be announcing my new band that I've started that is totally different from Coco Coca in almost every way. Hint: 50's, 60's and 70's.

New LP Track Listing
HEY.. So the CD has taken form (I'm listening to it right now) and will be getting mixed and mastered in a couple weeks, if all goes to plan. I thought I would put up the track listing if anyone was curious (????). This is subject to change possibly. Hopefully I'll be able to get some sort of a CD release show together and I'll give out a bunch of copies. Otherwise, the Coco Coca website should be up a couple weeks before the CD comes out and you can listen to the whole thing for free and buy a hard copy in the store.

I Wish

I wish I would have known about this before I moved. I might have stayed a few more months. I guess I'll just have to play my Honcho Overload and Moon Seven Times 7inches (yes there are a few still in existence) alone in my room and try and pretend I was in attendance. If you are in Champaign you better go to this.

Coming Soon!!

IT"S been a long past 6 months or so; Learning the finer points of audio production, writing new songs, getting new gear for the live show, learning how to use that as well, becoming a web-designer and video producer and reviewing every bit of work I've done a thousand times because it's never ever good enough... I'm getting to a point where I can finally put a time table (or at least a blind promise) of when THE ALBUM will be done and ready for mass consumption. MID-JUNE... Look for the release of my first full length "BlAck BlaCk BLack" and the launch of Coco Coca DOT COM. The website will host every bit of recorded music I have to offer in it's entirety. None of this "song sample" shit or worrying if people will not buy the album if they can just hear it online... fuck it... I'm just going to post every song from every release to hear for free. I feel that if people want to buy the CD they will and if they don't then they just won't. The site will also have a store and I'll mail out everything sold from it (keeping with my inability to work well with others), really dumb games, videos, music for download, the usual for a band site. BUT..ALSO, something I'm really excited about, the site will host a few songs off the new record in their original, unmastered, multitrack format as WAV Files. People then (if anyone actually wants to) can download a zip file with all the WAV Files for a particular song, import them to an audio editor and create remixes. Keep posted for more info as it comes in... I'm really hoping for a show or 2 or 5 or 8 sometime soon...SO if you live in Seattle, can you help a brotha out?

Stranger's Band of The Week

Not sure how this happened... but ... Coco Coca is The Stranger's Band of the week. Click HERE to see it. I got a call the other day from The Stranger about their annual band directory and I chatted for a bit with the voice on the other end, must have made some friends in high places because now I'm sport'n band of the week. Maybe now I can finally get a show in this town.
MUCH LOVE to The Stranger

Took Me Long Enough
I've been in Seattle for 2 weeks and I have to admit, it's pretty cool. I've been busting my ass applying for jobs, putting free CD's in record stores and in the hands of radio stations and bartenders (hopefully to end up in the hands of promoters but I'm not sure if that ever happens). I even went to my first show in town last weekend, The Teenagers... Wasn't too impressed but the opening act, The Pharmacy, was worth a shit. Bottom line, looking for a job kinda sucks but looking for housing around here sucks even more. I need to get a room in a house so I can finish the album and play some shows. If you're reading this and you live in Seattle you need to friend me on myspace and let me know where I can play for you. If your from Champaign and reading this, I love you very much and surprised you still remember who I am.Updates as they come in..
MUCH LOVE

I Gots Nowhere to Live!

I don't know what is going on with CraigsList but I've been e-mailing like crazy and with less than 3 weeks left before I leave, I still have nowhere to live in Seattle. Minor details however. More importantly I've booked 2 shows on the way out to Seattle.
1/3/07 - Omaha, NE (possibly a house show, not sure yet but there will be a show)
1/6/07 - Missoula, MT at The Palace
There are only 2 more shows left to play in Champaign; The Canopy this Thursday and the New Years Eve show at the Monkey. This Thursday is going to be awesome with a splash of Kick Ass, so I hope to see you there.

"Continents and Oceans" Lyrics
Here is the lyrics to the new song I posted "Continents and Oceans"
Pack your guns boy you're going home
back to the midwest where you were born
no mothers crying tonight, she's got her baby back be her side
surprise, your tours over
you made it back safe, alive and sober
thats more then can be said for the son of a bitch that sent you
he's got the devil's eyes and a smile to match his deeds
he's as mean as they can be
sick with envy greed and vanity
he's got only one solution to every problem that he has
from Africa to Baghdad
rape, exploit and burn what's left
So as history repeats it self we put our problems back up on that shelf
the one that's grown to full
the one we we should never have built
but we've made our beds now, bloody as they be
it's the only place to sleep
the best we can buy with all our money
So come here soon, you have to notice this
it's not obvious to you
it's just how we live
Guns, Bombs, Disease;
Oh God help me please;
I'm not just on TV;
You helped create me
I'm miles away
Carried to you by airwaves
Across continents and oceans
Satellites send me to your kitchen
And the audio's delayed
But you can still make out my face
And you hear me cry
But you never listen
You just change the station
To one that demands less of your concentration
You take your time
You take my time
They don't want soul
They don't want my gold
They don't want my oil
They don't want you to know
P.s. Your taxes paid for the bullet in that guys head

I'm Moving
It's official... I'm moving to Seattle, WA this January. I'm going mostly to pursue music but also I just graduated from college so I'll be looking for a job too. My last show in town will be the New Years Eve show at the Cowboy Monkey in Champaign. It's definitely going to be a big change seeing as how I've lived in Champaign for about 24 years now (my whole life) but I think it will be a welcome change and open up a lot more opportunities. Until then I plan on getting a new song I just recorded to WPGU in the next few days so keep an ear out (if they even play it). I'll also be posting it to my Myspace sometime soon as well. The song is called "Continents and Oceans" and is mostly about the state of the world (not to be too vague). I hope everyone likes it... I'm so desperate for positive feedback at this point in the writing process. The new album is coming on long but SLOWLY. I think the pressure of writing and putting together a full length album was a lot for me at this stage. The songs I've already written don't seem to be that great anymore and even newer one's I've recorded don't seem to stick out as being very good anymore either.... With that aire of uncertainty I leave you...for nowMuch Love

The First
Word,
I have a blog now. I'm really bad at things like blogs because I feel I've nothing much interesting to say or going on...SO... I've decided not to limit it to music and the band alone, rather, have it be about MORE; politics, movies, books, art, life....and stuff... Exciting stuff with the band coming up soon, shows and other awesome things. Will get back to you soon.
Cheers,
DANNY
